Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is Building Hope!

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Department recently joined volunteers on Chatham Habitat for Humanity’s job site to spend the day building swinging hammers.

“I feel the partnership with Habitat and being at the job sites to put in some hands on work allows the community to see their Sheriff’s Office as one who believes in building positive relationships while setting the uniform to the side, putting on our civilian work clothes and getting our hands dirty,” said Captain Steve Maynor of the Sheriff’s Office.

The volunteers worked alongside JR Rierson, the man whose home they were building. “It was great to see the new homeowner who came out not only to work but have genuine conversations with us,” said Maynor. “I left yesterday with a feeling of accomplishment for the work we performed to help Habitat with this project and most importantly a new friend who will move in sometime in the near future.”
