Care-A-Vanners
We are honored to offer this program to Recreational Vehicle pilots and their crew - and we consider ourselves blessed to be
able to accept volunteers any time of year.
If you would like to learn more about the Care-A-Vanner
program and how you can get involved, contact Matt at mzornow@chathamhabitat.org or call 919-542-0794.
What is a Care-A-Vanner?
Care-A-Vanners are dedicated volunteers who have the good fortune to be able to travel to Habitat affiliate
areas in their Motorhomes, Travel Trailers, Campers or Fifth-Wheels and work on a build site for a week or
more at a time. Since our North Carolina climate stays beautiful year-round, we're proud to offer
Care-A-Vanner opportunities anytime, to anyone who's interested!
There are a few campsites in Chatham County that offer a wide range of amenities, including
full-service septic hookups. We suggest that you check with us to determine where we'll be building
before you make your reservations, to make sure your daily travel time to the site is reasonable.
Options include (but are not limited to):
-
Jordan Lake Recreation Area - several sites around the lake, run by the NC State Parks
-
Cotten's RV Campgrounds - located in Moncure (suggested for south Chatham build sites)
The ideal Care-A-Vanner typically has some experience in a trade or has participated in similar
Habitat events in the past. You're welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer,
but we will provide all the tools and materials needed for the jobs.
If you'd like to learn more about the program or have any questions about how to get started,
contact Matt at 919-542-0794 or email mzornow@chathamhabitat.org.
Past Participants, Fast Friends

About
Chatham County
Chatham County is a rapidly developing area adjacent to North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, where some of the biggest brands in tech and manufacturing have begun setting up headquarters.
What used to be family farms and quaint rural towns are fast becoming high-priced corridors of suburban sprawl. Local leaders are doing their best to balance the inevitable growth with the Carolina culture, resulting in a blend of old country and modern convenience that's incredibly charming and comfortable.
In an effort to provide affordable housing for the growing population of this area, Chatham Habitat has committed to building 8 homes per year for local working families - but we need your help! Our workforce is largely made up of volunteer labor, and our building materials are purchased using donated funds.

Why Choose Chatham Habitat?
We know you've got options for where to spend your time - and we may be biased, but we think Chatham Habitat is a really special place!
Our weather is amazing basically all year round, the people in this region are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the Habitat staff you'll be working alongside are all very cool people who have a knack for keeping
our build sites safe and fun for everyone!
There's also plenty to do around here. Chatham boasts miles of walkable nature trails and greenways, endless rivers and lakes to fish or swim, plenty of eclectic shopping venues featuring unique hand-made goods, art studios and classes, really great restaurants, craft breweries and distilleries - and so much more!
