frequently asked questions
Who can participate in Raising Faith?
Any faith group, whether it is Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, secular or spiritual! Our vision is a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live, a vision that transcends all religions.
Do families need to be of a certain faith to own a home with Chatham Habitat?
Habitat for Humanity follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing Habitat’s homeowners.
My faith group is having trouble recruiting volunteers. Is it okay to only contribute financially?
Yes! We know that our faith partners are all different sizes and capacities.
Do you have age requirements for volunteers?
Anyone over the age of 14 can volunteer in the ReStore, and over 16 in construction. We just ask for larger groups to bring a chaperone when working with youth, but it can be a parent, group leader, or another member of your organization. Adults of all ages can participate as well.
Since COVID, our faith-group has fewer members in-person, but we still want to participate. Are there opportunities for us?
Yes! You can support Habitat in many ways, such as advocacy or "Mission Moments" during your service or livestream, hosting an event or fundraiser, or with your pledges! We are happy to work with you to find ways to be part of our community.
We have a member of our organization who is in need of housing. How can we support them?
Our Homeowner Services department would be happy to discuss this with you. And if approved, your organization can partner with them to help earn Sweat Equity hours. More information about Homeownership can be found here.
