Volunteer Spotlight: Bob Russell

Bob is a man of many talents: he works in the ReStore every Tuesday, but he also organizes all of the meals for our Collegiate Challenge groups! Starting early in the year, he calls local businesses, gets to know the owners and managers, and eventually asks them to donate meals for the groups that come to work every year. He organizes the pick up, delivery, and thank-yous to make sure that everyone has a great experience. This is such an enormous help to us–it allows us to provide an even better experience for the students, and he always does a better job than anyone else ever could! It’s so wonderful to be able to depend on Bob to make sure the students are well-fed.

In the ReStore, Bob is on the job! Bob brings to the ReStore warmth, enthusiasm, dependability and a great sense of humor. He facilitates the weekly end to our silent auction, organizing the sign in sheets and carefully recording items sold and/or picked up. Usually working alone on his afternoon shift, Bob is quick to work with and help our newcomers learn the process of becoming a stellar ReStore volunteer.

Hailing from the Boston area, Bob is a passionate Red Sox fan. You can tell how the series is going by checking out Bob’s countenance when he arrives to work! Some of us have become fans through osmosis! Overall, Bob is one of the most humble and dedicated volunteers that we have in the whole organization. We can’t thank him enough for the work that he does!
