COVID-19 Response
Updated 12/9/2020:
Yesterday, we learned that one of our office staff members tested positive for Covid-19. This person has been in our office with other staff members, and while we all wear masks and keep our distance, we have fully closed the building and our office staff are quarantining at home until enough time has passed that we can all be tested and hopefully, confirmed negative.
Our ReStores and construction sites will continue to operate as described below – we don’t have any reason to believe that there is a significant risk of exposure to our ReStore and construction staff or volunteers.
From the beginning of this pandemic, we decided that if we ever were to receive incredibly challenging news like this, we would be fully transparent with our staff and the public. Our top priority is the health of our staff and their families, our volunteers, and our homeowners, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate the next couple of weeks.
We’d also like to remind you to be vigilant – wear your masks and stay home whenever possible. We are looking forward to re-opening our office as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Please email office@chathamhabitat.org if you need to reach us while our office is closed.
Here is a summary of Chatham Habitat’s current operations and policies:
-
As of December 9, 2020, our administrative office is completely closed due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19. Our staff is quarantining and working from home until we have all tested negative.
-
Our ReStores are open on modified hours (Mon-Fri 10-5, Sat 9-4). All shoppers over the age of 11 are required to wear a face covering and follow social distancing procedures. The ReStores are accepting drop-off donations, and we are doing truck pick-ups but are only able to pick up items that have been brought outdoors.
-
Our ReStores have begun safely welcoming new volunteers and offer individual orientations three times a week.
-
Our construction sites have begun welcoming small numbers of regular volunteers back to the sites, but are not able to accommodate groups or new volunteers at this time.
-
Our community meeting space is closed, and all scheduled meetings are cancelled indefinitely.

This is an uncertain time for everyone and we are continually thankful for your support and patience as we face this new challenge together as a community.
