At Chatham Habitat, we know that a safe and decent home can change everything for a family. Children feel proud to bring friends home to play, their grades improve, and the dream of going to college becomes a reality.
Instead of worrying about housing, families are free to think of other things, such as college education for their children, employment training for themselves, and volunteering in their neighborhood organizations.
Habitat homeowners also become taxpaying neighbors who value their homes and their neighborhoods.
As a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, the majority of our support comes from local contributions and partnerships. Donations help fund the building of affordable homes, land purchases and the operation of our mission.

A gift of stock provides an opportunity for tax savings while helping to provide

Acquiring buildable lots in Chatham County is becoming increasingly challenging, and having an inventory of land enables Chatham Habitat to build efficiently. Can you help? Honorariums and Memorials
We are pleased to accept donations honoring special people and events, and memorial contributions help to alleviate poverty housing while remembering those important to us. We send notification cards informing recipients, friends or family members of your kindness. A receipt will be provided.
Legacy Giving
A bequest in your will to Chatham Habitat for Humanity signifies your enduring support. If you prefer to make a gift now and see the rewards of your philanthropy, you have several options—most provide tax advantages, some provide income to you or someone you name for life, and all give the satisfaction that comes from helping others. Mr. Herman-Giddens provides initial consultations at no cost to those interested in including Chatham Habitat in estate planning.
Sponsorships
Sponsors are groups or individuals who currently contribute $25,000 toward the cost of building a home for a designated family. Sponsorships represent true partnership, with Chatham Habitat raising the additional funds required to complete the house and the homeowner family providing 350 hours of sweat equity, committing to a monthly mortgage payment, and paying closing costs.
Gifts in Kind
Donations of new and gently used household goods, building materials, appliances, furniture, toys, books, and more can be sold in our re-sale stores which help fund our mission. Your gift is tax deductable. We will even come get your items. Call (919) 542-0788, ext. 206 for information and to arrange a pick-up.
Cars for Homes
By donating a car to Habitat’s Cars for Homes™ vehicle donation program, you help build and rehabilitate houses in partnership with families in need. It is quick and easy to recycle your used cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, construction equipment or other vehicles—running or not! Plus, you may be eligible for a tax deduction if you itemize.
